Case Erector Technician (06/2018 - 08/2018)

This was my first real job in manufacturing and the responsibilities that were entailed are as followed. I would operate 8-12 case erector robots that would fold flatten boxes for Lays chips. I supported technicians in equipment maintenance and repair, performed mechanical alignments and calibration of equipment to quality standards.

I would have to say the key takeaways of this job was learning what it is like to work on the floor in the manufacturing environment and observing the functionality/performance of automation all before my studies at Purdue University.

Robot Operator (06/2019 - 02/2020)

After my first school year at Purdue Frito Lay got in contact with me to offer me another position for the summer. During the call I conversed all I have learned during the year and was granted the opportunity to be a robot operator due to my potential of excelling in this job.

The responsibilities that were involved with this position were operation 10 zones of palletizing robots that stacked product to be sent out to the warehouse. In addition, I performed required maintenance and upkeep that ranged from fixing photo-eyes to manually writing system inputs and performing overrides when the robot crashes/faults along with reconfiguring logic whenever a product line changes to give the robot correct coordinates of varied sized boxes in its` user frame.

The key takeaways I would like to note about this position was that I was able to apply what I learned as an operator to the classroom because I ended up taking my first robotics class the following semester and I was able to get a deeper understanding of the real world implementations of articulate robots, reference frames, specialized end-effectors, sensors, etc.
